About EGI Grid
European DSOs in cooperation with Polish TSO plan to apply for PCI status for Smart Grid projects in order to improve the security of the electrical grid in the EU. As a result of this project, we expect the grid critical infrastructure to become more resistant to external threats and atmospheric phenomena.
The idea of the project is to:
- Construct a smarter and more secure energy grid in the EU Member States.
- Create a new, higher common technical standard for electrical transformer stations based on SMART Grid technologies, using automation and observability to improve network security and security of energy supply
- Verify grid connection conditions in order to connect more RES and large energy intensive industries to the grid based on averaged measurement data from several international HV/MV stations
- Publish grid data on one common visualization platform (voltage, load, temperature, cloudiness, wind speed, connected RES production, number of customers and large energy intensive industries) in specific grid nodes (HV stations, MV stations) to allow energy retailers, aggregators and scientific community, in a transparent and non-discriminatory manner, to simulate new Energy market products (flexibility)
- Test the usage of meteorological data to change the grid configuration in order to repel negative weather effects
